Single action top break revolver with six-chambered fluted cylinder, automatic extraction, notch rear sight, German silver half-moon front sight and lanyard ring in butt. One-line barrel address ends with the "AUG. 24. 69. RUSSIAN MODEL" marking. Barrel shortened to 4.75" during the period of use. Butt with "SH" in a diamond marking, indicating the gun was shipped to Schuyler, Hartley & Graham of New York, where it was likley engraved and had the higher grade grips added. The revolver lands in the Model 3 Russian Model 2nd Model serial number range but the barrel address is the slighly later Model 3 Rusisan 3rd Model type marking. Matching asembly number "90" on the lower right side of the grip frame under the grips, on the rear face of the cylidner and under the barrel latch. The revolver features extensive Arabeque scroll engraving with punch dot backround shading and geometric border lines in a style associated with L.D. Nimschke. The gun is accompanied by a Slim Jim style form fitting leather holster of that appears to be of a somewhat later manufacture. Also included are handwritten notes referencing ownership by an individual identified as Oscar Hansen. According to the written history, Hansen’s sister was associated with Wells Fargo in San Francisco, and the revolver was reportedly a presentation piece connected to that family history. Additional documentation includes a 1981 note recording a trade involving the revolver. A really lovely, totally honest presentation grade old west revolver with a barrel shortened to be handier when carried and used.

Very Good as modified. Bore about good with moderate oxidation and some pitting, retaining good rifling. Metal with much of the thinning and flaked period nickel finish intact, showing moderate loss and scattered surface oxidation as well as some discoloration. Markings remain clear and legible, and the engraving remains crisp and clear. The barrel address is partially obscured by the shortening of the barrel and reinstallation of the front sight. Mechanically functional action. Grips show some mionr and even shrinkage, leaving the grip fame slighlty proud of the grip edges, with some old, spidery minor age cracks. The left grip has toned to the rich color of well prepared creme brulee with the right remaining a brighter light creamy color. Holster shows moderate wear, scuffs and marks consistent with age and use.
