An original Oregon-style boot restraint consisting of a heavy polished steel locking shackle fitted to a black leather work boot, accompanied by its operating key. Designed as a custodial restraint device, the Oregon boot was developed and popularized by the Oregon Department of Corrections as an alternative to conventional leg irons. By securing a heavy steel locking assembly directly to the wearer’s boot and ankle, the device significantly restricted mobility while still permitting limited movement. The restraint features a hinged circular locking collar with wooden-handled locking screw, heavy steel side support, and matching key. The distinctive design became widely known as the “Oregon Boot” and was employed by correctional institutions during the mid-20th century.

Dimensions: Overall approximately 12.5 in. L. x 7.5 in. H. (boot); restraint collar approximately 7 x 5.5 in.

Pickup & Shipping: Free pickup in Gardnerville, NV. FedEx shipping within the continental U.S.: $45 + 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing). Combined shipping available.

Condition

Good overall condition with expected wear from use and storage. The steel components retain their original polished finish with scattered scratches, oxidation, and handling marks. The leather boot remains supple and complete with laces present. Accompanied by its original operating key. The locking mechanism appears complete.
