The center shows a red and white quartered shield with lions and castles, encircled by blue enamel inscribed “AL MÉRITO EN CAMPAÑA” (For Merit in Campaign), denoting merit in military operations during the Spanish Civil War. Surrounded by gilt laurel wreath with crossed swords and applied emblems at the quarters. Reverse fitted with long horizontal pin and hook, privately engraved “LT LEO FALK 7/25/37” and stamped “FÜR KÄMPFE IM SPANIEN 1936–1939.”
