Distinctive U.S. Model 1906 cavalry saber manufactured by The Lilley-Ames Co., Columbus, Ohio, as indicated on the ricasso. The blade features extensive factory etching, including foliate scrollwork, martial motifs, a central “U.S.” panel, and an American eagle with “E Pluribus Unum,” reflecting its intended ceremonial and presentation appeal alongside service use. The hilt is of standard three-branch guard configuration with a black composite grip molded with finger grooves, retaining its original wire binding. The saber is accompanied by its steel scabbard with dual suspension rings. Adopted in the early 20th century, this pattern represents the final generation of U.S. cavalry sabers prior to their obsolescence, issued for mounted troops and later retained largely for dress and parade purposes.
