A large U.S. Navy officer’s visor cap badge of two-piece construction by Vanguard, New York. The spread-wing eagle and shield are solid sterling silver, while the crossed fouled anchors are marked “1/20 10K G.F. on Sterling.” One anchor arm stamped “Vanguard.” Hollow-back, stamped components secured by screwback fittings with brass and plated retaining nuts to reverse. This high-quality wartime insignia was worn on commissioned naval officer’s visor caps.
