World War I French Model 1915 Adrian steel helmet retaining its artillery branch badge depicting crossed cannons surmounted by an artillery piece and bearing the letters “RF” (République Française). The helmet retains its characteristic comb crest, multi-piece construction, and olive-green painted finish. The interior remains fitted with its leather liner assembly and chinstrap. Introduced in 1915, the Adrian helmet was the first standard steel combat helmet issued on a large scale during the First World War and was widely used by French forces throughout the conflict. Artillery-designated examples are among the most recognizable branch variants of the pattern.
