.22RF Short. 2.125” octagon to round barrel. SN: 97. Nickel plated finish, color casehardened hammer and trigger, blued pins and screws, smooth mother of pearl bird’s head grips. Top of barrel marked in one line: “XL VEST POCKET.” Serial number under grip on left side of frame. A simple pivoting barrel, single shot, single action spur trigger pistol without sights. These pistols were produced by Hopkins & Allen circa 1870-1890 with production estimated at about 1,500 pistols.

Condition
Fine. Metal with nearly all of the nickel-plated finish intact with some minor flaked loss and high edge wear, showing some surface oxidation and roughness in the areas of loss. Hammer and trigger with dull colors, screws and pins with some blue remaining. Markings remain clear and crisp. Mechanically functional action. Poor bore is dark, dirty, heavily oxidized and pitted with only traces of rifling visible. Grips with light wear but free of breaks, cracks or significant chips.
